A TYPICAL HOMESCHOOL WEDNESDAY

Hi Everyone

I woke up this morning with a cracking headache. Got up made John breakfast, packed his lunch, fed the kids and went back to bed! When I woke up at 8:30 I felt a whole lot better. Really I was just exhausted, already. Jules was up last night with a mild dose of gastric flu, but was all revived this morning. So I left them playing cards while I had an extra 1 and a half hours sleep.

We then got going on our typical Wednesday. Wednesdays kind of got like this somewhere in the beginning of our homeschool journey. It’s midweek and  all 3 of us seem to need a bit of chill out time. I use most of the morning to give the house it’s weekly scrub, from top to bottom including the laundry. The kids read, draw, play and just relax.

We then do a small amount of school in the afternoon. Jules did spelling and revised her maths vocabulary. This for us is normal.

I feel it’s really important for each family to find their own structure and schedule and not to try and fit in with anyone else’s. The 3 of us need a break on a Wednesday, why I don’t know, but it works for us.  So that’s what we do. Some Mom’s I talk to freak about it, as they do school 6 days a week for a full morning, and that works for them. If I did that I think I’d be dead in short order. My kids as well.

So the best advise I can give you at this point… Find the time you want to do school when it suits you. Don’t be swayed by what others are doing. Yes, try new schedules and times, but always come back to what feels comfy for you.

For us it’s a pretty laid back Wednesday, and if there are field trips to take we do them on Wednesday as well. It works for us.

Enjoy the rest of your week homeschool week.

Blessings,

Susan
