KEEP THE SENSE OF WONDER ALIVE
While I was packing, I found a book of quotes I bought many years ago. It’s written by mothers for mothers. And the one that stuck out for me today and I want to share with you, sums up Homeschooling for me. Homeschooling isn’t just about giving the gift of knowledge to our children. It’s so much more. It’s a matter of keeping the sense of wonder alive in them, and because of this, the sense of wonder is kept alive in us. I see things now completely differently, since I’ve been homeschooling. I see things, as though I were looking at them for the first time.
“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it. Rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”
Rachel Carson (1907-1964) American Biologist
Isn’t this one of the joys of Homeschooling?
