WALDORF HOMESCHOOL GRADE 1 NUMBERS

StJohn’s been wanting to “do sums” as he puts it. So I’ve started him on his numbers last week.

We started with 1 and discussed what we know of that there is only 1 of. One of the first things he said was, “Earth” we only have 1 earth. And he worked his way down to having 1 Mom, 1 Dad, 1 Sister, 1 dog, and then body parts… 1 Nose, 1 mouth… you get the picture.

Once this is done he then draws a picture of as many things as he likes and practises writing the number.

Today we did the number 2. Discussed what we have 2 of… 2 parents, 2 cats, and then got onto the topic of we have 2 houses.

Which is not strictly true. We have one house we live in now, and a piece of land in Cape Town, that we’re about to start building on. We’re going Home!!!

There is great excitement in the house at the moment. Drawing up plans, deciding on room size, colour etc.

We’re taking a few months of later this year to build our own home as a family. Yes, I truly mean, brick by brick with our own 8 hands.

I’ve put together another Blog where we’re chatting about Building Supply and all building related stuff. So if you’re interested in that sort of stuff. Go and have a look. It’s building from a Womans perspective. (I’ve had to learn things like the difference between rafters and trusses! A steep learning curve)

Blessings to you all as we Homeschool!

Susan

PS. I’m off to the Park with the kids and the dog, then I’ll record what Jules and I have been doing for Grade 3 for the past 2 days.
