HOMESCHOOL – THE 5 FOOD GROUPS
Hi Everyone,
I had to teach Jules the 5 food groups the other day, and always wanting to add something exciting to our Homeschool Day, I did the following for her:
I made her a 5 food groups platter, a different food group in each part. The 5 food groups sure have changed since I was at school, add to that the fact that when I was at school we had 4 food groups. mmmhhh! Another good example of the Pros of Homechooling, always update teaching info!
I gave her:
Grains – bread, rice cake, nachos
Meat and beans – cold meat slice, green bean
Vegetables – carrots, lettuce
Fruit – Apple, cucumber, banana
Dairy – cheese, yoghurt
I tried to show her, that even though each food may be part of the same group they can all look different.
She loved it, and so did StJohn. I asked her over the weekend to tell her Dad about the 5 food groups and she told him all of them and the various things you might find in each one! Just like that no problem remembering…
Practical Homeschooling at it’s best I guess?
