HOMESCHOOLING DISCIPLINE
Hi Everyone,
Well we didn’t do any schoolwork today, the headache I had yesterday, turned into a monster overnight. But needless to say, we quietly cleaned and tidied the house this morning and the kids had a playdate this afternoon. So all of that went well, and I managed to sort out tomorrows lesson plans this afternoon.
Then we hit that crazy before dinner bath and bedtime. Wow it was a rough one today! Juliette-Marie just would not cooperate. We use Dr Marshall Rosenbergs’ method of non-violent communication with our kids. It hasn’t always been this way, but it certainly suits us better than any other method. No smacking, no punishing, no rewarding. ie. Stax of talking. Tonight I wasn’t in the mood. I was tired, headachy and just wanted everything done smoothly.
Well it was not meant to be! Juliette shouted and cried for 45 minutes. aaargh! But I got down on her level, and spoke giraffe, so did John. She’s back to her calm self now in bed colouring in, she came and apologised, and even now I know that I haven’t done anything I’ll regret later. I’ve been true to my belief system. John and I started this journey together, and the change in ourselves and our children is phenomonal.
Want to learn how to speak giraffe?
I’m going to put up a webpage this weekend on non-violent child communication. It’s incredible.
The trust and love that is built with your child is awesome. There is no fear, and because of this confidence takes it’s place. It’s hard in the beginning, because we’ve all been taught how to speak jackal! Within a couple of weeks, giraffe is coming out of your mouth naturally.
I feel lighter, more filled with love and tolerance. More peaceful come to think of it. A good space to be in….
More on Non-Violent Communication to come! Come on you must at least want to learn a little bit of Giraffe, right?
Blessings to you all. Tomorrow is another packed Homeschool day.
May your day tomorrow be filled with peace and light.
Susan
