EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
Okay it’s been a typical Monday! Most of my Mondays are pretty good, this one was just irritating! Nothing in the house went right, every thing from cleaning to banking, just didn’t work out! Aaaarggh!
But there is a light side….. I had all my lesson plans laid out, ready to go. The kids, were ready and sitting in front of the blackboard, (which still has the map of SA on it)I told them I just needed to nip out back to hang the washing. (The 1st load of 4-yes it was one of those days)
When I came back in I could hear, an interesting game developing, so I listened quietly from the kitchen. Not interrupting them! Jules and Sin, had gone to fetch her mattress off her bed. They had decided to set sail on a Treasure Hunt. Using the broom as a barge pole. They were pirates (Juliette I heard was Lady Hook). They had started to copy down the map of SA with all the provinces and names in the right places (the pronounciation of each was correct!YAY!). This was their treasure map, and they had put together a travel plan. Discovering one province after another with gaudy scarves tied round their heads. It was great!
At this point I shelved all my lessons for the day. There is no better way to learn than through play. I was planning on doing a bit of mapwork revision, later this week. Now I don’t have to, they did it on their own.
Don’t you just love Homeschooling!
Then this afternoon, we had another kids craft session. Jules came to me and asked for a pattern for a “Baby Puff” the magic dragon felt toy. I drew it up, cut it out and that was them, busy for the afternoon. I never start these craft afternoons, I wait until they ask, which is now happening at least twice a week!
Gotta go, need to spend some quality time, with my poor negelected husband!
Have a fantastic Tuesday tomorrow!
Love S.xx
